How does a Mersin business work with a team in Istanbul?
Yükpro's owner, Akın Atmaca, is in Mersin, and our team is in Istanbul. When building a mobile product, the distance between the two cities is not what matters; what matters is that decisions and progress sit somewhere everyone can see them. That is why remote projects start with the scope, priorities and acceptance criteria written down. Meetings are held in Turkish and can be online or in person.
The best way to see progress on a mobile app is to use the app on your own phone. At the end of every two-week sprint a working build is shared, and your feedback goes straight into the plan for the next sprint. Work is tracked on a Jira or Linear board. Since all of Türkiye is in the same time zone, finding a meeting slot is never an issue either.
What problem does Yükpro solve?
In road freight, shippers struggled to find a suitable carrier, and carriers struggled to find loads that matched their routes. Matching relied mostly on phone calls, scattered WhatsApp groups and middlemen. The result was lost time, empty return trips and little price transparency.
Mersin is a port city with a large container port, and freight is part of its everyday economy. Yükpro, however, serves road freight across the whole of Türkiye, not only Mersin: listings are published by origin and destination province, so a load leaving Mersin and a load heading to Mersin from another province go through the same flow.
What does the app include?
Free listings for shippers
Shippers publish free, unlimited listings with route, vehicle type and price. Because listing is free, the barrier to joining the platform stays low.
Filters and load alerts for carriers
Carriers filter listings by province, vehicle type and loading method. A load alert set by origin and destination province sends an instant push notification when a matching listing appears. Carriers no longer need to keep checking the app to avoid driving back empty.
One-tap contact
Both sides can call or message on WhatsApp with a single tap. Carriers can share their vehicle and driver details from their profile in one step with a ready-made message. Because contact happens directly between the parties, there is no middleman fee.
Which technical decisions were made?
The app was built with Flutter from a single codebase and is live on both iOS and Android. A single codebase means both platforms are updated together and features stay consistent across them. The backend runs on Firebase: authentication, the Firestore database, Cloud Functions and push notifications all sit on one platform. This setup suits a first release that focuses on getting the product to market without building separate server infrastructure.
How did the revenue model shape the app?
Yükpro's revenue comes from carrier subscriptions: after a 14-day trial, carriers continue with a monthly subscription through the App Store and Google Play, while the app is free for shippers. In-store subscriptions remove the need for a separate payment system, but the trial, renewal and cancellation flows must be designed to follow store rules.
What does this project mean for other businesses in Mersin?
For work that happens in the field, a mobile app earns its value by letting people do something they already do in fewer steps. For Yükpro, that meant bringing the industry's phone and WhatsApp habits into the app instead of trying to replace them. If you have a similar idea, the first meeting is free, it can be online or in person, and we reply within 24 hours.
